No NO (updated 08/29/06)

UPDATE:
The assignment question files on the class website do NOT have the misprint that exists in some of the Ebbing textbooks (the misprint ridiculously substitutes NO for NaClO in the question), so question # 3.84 should read just as it is listed:

2NaOH(aq) + Cl2(g) -> NaCl(aq) + NaClO(aq) +H2O(l)

(a) If you have 1.23 mol of NaOH in solution and 1.47 mol of Cl2 gas available to react, which is the limiting reactant?
(b) How many moles of NaClO (aq) could be obtained?

I hope that the assignment is bringing you all up to speed on chemistry. Looking forward to a great year with our group.
